
Children’s Well-Being ‘Mana Atua’ Yoga Practices Integrating Mind, Body Health
The morning will cover:
- Demonstrating how to implement yoga with children;
- Participants joining in practical, non competitive yoga expression and poses that acknowledge our bodies and health;
- A focus on intellectual and emotional IQ;
- Acknowledging the values of perseverence, courage, kindness, self control, communication, respect, thankfulness and honesty;
- Integrating mind and body connections for young children using basic postures, breathing exercises, relaxation; assisting both exuberant and reserved children to focus and balance.
The afternoon will include:
- Cultural health perspectives and well-being (Te Whāriki and The NZ Curriculum);
- Introduction to natural and wholesome approaches;
- Positive strategies for well-being integration in ECE and school programmes;
- Mindfulness – connecting mind, body and soul in peaceful and ambient settings;
- Theory and direction behind yoga practices.
This course links to the strands of Te Whāriki and to The NZ Curriculum.
Course Preparation: Please wear flexible clothing; previous yoga experience is not necessary. Yoga mats are provided at the course.
